As our portfolio grows, we&#8217;re looking for an Operations &amp; Events Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day logistics that keep our events, hiring, and project coordination running smoothly. There is room to develop ownership and help shape these areas, where it&#8217;s a good fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The role<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exact scope will depend on your skillset, with events, hiring, and project operations making up the largest share. Example tasks include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Planning and executing three week-long staff retreats per year, including venue research, vendor coordination, agenda design, logistics, and on-site support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Administering org-wide virtual meetings, such as our research discussion series and monthly social calls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acting as the first point of contact for candidate queries, supporting hiring workflows, including screening initial applications, and maintaining applicant tracking records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing direct operational support to research projects, such as communicating with research participants and managing publication outreach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tracking project statuses and capacity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keeping our project summaries and other cross-organizational resources current, and improving how that&#8217;s done<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other small administrative tasks as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our small Operations team regularly steps outside of their specific areas of responsibility to support our highest priorities. As a rule of thumb, you can expect your day-to-day work to be made up of 70% of your regular scope and 30% cross-cutting work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re looking for someone who has:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A track record of taking initiative and owning projects from start to finish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear, explicit communicator with fluency in English<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong writing and numeracy skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ability to work productively in a self-directed, remote environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfort taking on new challenges and learning new tools \u2013 we particularly value proactive and effective use of time-saving tools such as automated workflows and LLMs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ability to keep multiple workstreams moving at once, including tracking deadlines, juggling competing priorities, and keeping stakeholders informed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We believe people with a range of experience levels could thrive in this role, and we&#8217;re glad to consider entry-level candidates who demonstrate strong potential. The ideal candidate would also have the following characteristics, but do not let this list prevent you from applying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proficiency with Google Workspace and project-management software such as Asana<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience planning and running in-person events, including vendor coordination and budget management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working in a scientific research, nonprofit, or other mission-driven environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A track record of improving systems and processes, not just running them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>We highly encourage you to apply, even if you don&#8217;t feel completely qualified. Some of the best people we\u2019ve worked with in our careers felt underqualified when they first applied, and we\u2019re glad they did so anyway.<\/em><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The fine print<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Role details<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We prefer full-time but are open to part-time roles for the right candidate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The salary reference for this role is $72k for someone based in a major US city. The range is $64,800\u2013$79,200, depending on location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This role is remote-first. You must be able to attend three week-long staff retreats (held in the US and EU) per year in person, as executing the retreats is a core responsibility for this role.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Team members can work whichever hours of the day work for them, but must be consistently available between our core hours of 11 am and 3 pm ET.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are able to hire people in most countries, provided they have pre-existing work authorization for that country. Team members based outside the U.S. will be employed through an employer of record (EOR) service in their country of residency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We provide 80% contribution towards fully-funded health insurance for staff, 30 days per year of paid time off (including public holidays), 10 days of paid sick leave, and a homeworking budget, among other benefits. Exact benefits may vary based on local requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application process<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis and will prioritize candidates who apply early.
