Data Analyst and Senior Data Analyst
Data analysts support FRI research projects in a variety of ways, focusing on data management, statistical analysis, and data visualization. Most data analysts work across several projects concurrently, often contributing to experimental scientific work exploring how to improve forecasting methods, as well as applied work making use of forecasting methods to better understand important topics.
We are open to candidates at a range of experience levels. In addition to contributing to projects, Senior Data Analysts would be expected to lead at least small-scale projects, with supervision from more senior members of the team.
tasks may include
- Conducting descriptive and statistical analyses of data from forecasting surveys or experiments
- Developing high-quality data visualizations
- Helping to design experiments, with an emphasis on data collection and management, power analysis, and survey design
- Contributing to written reports and papers, particularly methods and results sections
qualifications
Successful candidates will have the following characteristics:
- Experienced programmer in R or Python
- There is no minimum number of years of experience but we expect analysts to be able to contribute to shared R or Python codebases upon starting work at FRI
- Thorough understanding of statistics
- Clear, explicit communicator and strong writing skills
- Ability to work productively in a self-directed (remote) environment
The ideal candidate would have the following characteristics:
- Research or project-level experience, including in academia or an industry role
- Additional programming experience (e.g., proficient with both R and Python, data engineering, web development, or other programming languages)
- Familiarity with, and interest in, quantitative forecasting
- Comfort taking on new challenges and learning new tools

The fine print
Role details
- We prefer full-time but are open to part-time roles for the right candidates.
- Salary is commensurate with experience and location, and will likely fall between $70,000-$130,000.
- This role is entirely remote, however we ensure that team members have opportunities to connect and collaborate in-person with regular team retreats (currently three times per year) and virtual collaboration sessions.
- Team members can work whichever hours of the day work for them but must be consistently available between our core hours of 11am and 3pm ET.
- We are able to hire people in most countries, provided they have pre-existing work authorization for that country. Team members based outside the U.S. will be employed through an employer of record (EOR) service in their country of residency.
- We may be able to sponsor US work visas, however we cannot guarantee that a visa application will be successful.
- We provide 80% contribution towards fully funded health insurance for staff, 30 days per year of paid time off (including public holidays), and up to 10 days of paid sick leave, among other benefits. Exact benefits may vary based on local requirements.
